Soul of the Rose Matinée Mid-Length Duster

Stop and smell the roses. It’s one of the oldest pieces of advice we know, and perhaps one of the wisest. In a world that always seems to ask us to hurry, roses invite us to linger in warm afternoons and notice the beauty around us.

Our Soul of the Rose collection began with John William Waterhouse’s beloved painting of the same name, capturing a woman lost in the fragrance of a climbing rose. Around her, we collaged blooming gardens from centuries of art: sunlit pathways, impressionist blossoms, and armfuls of roses borrowed from painters who understood that flowers are never just flowers.

A graceful parasol from Berndtson’s 1879 painting A Pause in the Studio and a nineteenth-century embroidered Qing Dynasty textile add a romantic, antique feel that evokes the elegance of another era. The Soul of the Rose is a garden preserved in cloth, celebrating beauty, stillness, and the simple joy of pausing long enough to breathe it all in.
