The Story Behind The Artwork

Momento reimagines the traditional memento mori, a reminder of life’s impermanence, as a celebration of the love, truth, wonder, and beauty of the life we are living now.

At the heart of the design, two starlings are silhouetted against a luminous full moon. Around them are a skull softened by flowers, luna moths, butterflies, sheaves of wheat, and sparrows nestled among branches. A banner beneath them reads “Momento Vivere”: remember to live.

The layered artwork is a collage of original illustrations by Jessica Roux. Each element reflects cycles, change, and the fragile beauty of being alive, inviting us to savor fleeting moments, hold what matters close, and live boldly and joyfully.
