About the print
Flora Poetica takes its name from a Victorian essay celebrating the poetry of flowers. At the heart of the design is Jan van Huysum's Still Life with Flowers (1723), set against an open garden landscape watched over by Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. Hand-painted birds bring movement and birdsong to the scene, while the trim is adapted from the nineteenth-century textile fragment Meandering Vines.
