Slip it over a favorite dress or pair it with a simple top and jeans. The cropped shape lets the rest of your outfit shine, while wide sleeves and illustrated panels make this a statement layer.
A print filled with meaning
Designed to create a layered, almost trompe l’oeil effect, Book of Love combines hand-painted, fringed banners from the 1800s, a tangled garden from a Parisian perfume advertisement, scraps of 18th-century floral fabric, antique swallows, and a textile-draped doorway from an 1885 French book of drapery and design. A figure borrowed from Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus carries the banner of Hope.
The back features a Faith, Hope, Love banner, echoed in the lettered trim. A sleeve banner reads, “But the greatest of these is love.” Green foliage, tiny pink flowers, and swallows bring the artwork together.
