Bella Notte Kimono Duster Robe
Meaning “Beautiful Night,” Bella Notte by Market of Stars brings romance and antique artwork to a long kimono duster robe. A dreamy woman among the trees, a charming rabbit, and a moonlit river create a design with a story to tell.
The Story Behind The Artwork
The seated woman was painted in 1880 by artist and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti, while the rabbit comes from a painting made in 1585. The sleeves feature a moonlit river landscape from an 1840s British oil painting, complemented by floral trim drawn from the border of a calligraphic manuscript by William Morris.
An open book at the bottom of the design reads, “Many are the stars I see, yet in my eye no star like thee.” These words were taken from an engraving inside a gold ring made in the 1700s, adding a centuries-old love note to this wearable artwork.
Layer it over a simple top and jeans for an artful afternoon, or pair it with a slip dress and gemstone jewelry for an evening gathering. The detailed print makes it an expressive finishing layer.
